Camping at Indiana Dunes National Park is such an enjoyable experience. I love the memories we’ve created with friends and family on our trips there. There’s usually anywhere from 7-10 families that camp with our group.
While camping, life just slows down. It’s so relaxing and calming to me. I most look forward to morning conversations over a cup of coffee and a fire. It’s also nice to hear children playing, laughing, and exploring throughout the day. They make up the funniest games, lol. Unplugging and deepening the connections with those we love is rewarding.
I think that campers are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Everyone walking around the campground greets others as they pass. They may say a quick hello or stop for a conversation. In addition, fellow campers also readily offer help when needed.

The Indiana Dunes Campground is one of my favorite places to camp not only because of it’s scenic beauty but also because of the nature center situated at the rear of the campground. It affords guests the opportunity to learn a bit about their surroundings.
Camping Activities at Indiana Dunes National Park Campground
Sometimes I can be a lazy camper. Being within the picturesque Dunes, however, I often find myself hiking the trails and climbing sandy dunes several times throughout the day. The multiple trails have various levels of difficulty for walking, jogging, hiking, and biking. If you’re up for a fitness test, you can attempt the 3 Dune challenge, a self-guided trail climbing the 3 tallest sand dunes in the park. Besides the trails, there’s also swimming at the lake and beach volleyball.
Try something different during your next stay; give camping a try.
